Planting tomatoes: how to plant tomatoes
Tomato seedlings for planting should be healthy, stocky, 15–30 cm tall, with 5-7 leaves and an extensive, healthy root system. If you decide to buy seedlings already grown it is best to choose ones in pots.
The seedlings should be planted in designated rows with a distance between plants of 35-50 cm (depending on the variety). Optimal number is 3-4 plants per square meter.
You should plant tomatoes in previously prepared holes. Size of the hole should be big enough to take whole root without curling or breaking, then you must cover it with soil gently kneading it.
Tomatoes need supports, so with each tomato bush you need to stick a wooden stake to which the plants will later be tied.
